What Are Digital Dental X Rays

Posted on 3/21/2022 by Pacific Maxillofacial Center
What Are Digital Dental X RaysAdvancement in technology provides state-of-the-art equipment to dentists, enabling us to better detect, diagnose and manage dental conditions effectively compared to earlier. We know to make use of imaging equipment that can give us a clear picture of the state of your dental tissues, to determine what the cause of your ailment is. Through this equipment we can also effectively personalize your treatment plan, which ensures that the problem is fully addressed, allowing for faster and long-lasting relief from your condition.

Digital dental X-rays are one of these techniques that we use to get a clear insight into your dental health. Digital dental X-rays utilize digital X-ray sensors that replace conventional photographic X-ray films. This digital process produces clear and enhanced computer images of your oral tissues, gums, teeth, and other dental conditions and structures.

Types of dental X rays

There are two types of dental X-rays that our dentists use at our facility namely extraoral and intraoral X-rays. Extraoral X-rays are taken outside your mouth, helping dentists to identify impacted teeth, detect problems located between teeth, temporomandibular joints, jaws, and other dental bones. Dentists also use extraoral images to monitor the growth and development of your jaw.

Intraoral x-rays are the most often used images and they provide a great amount of detail compared to extraoral X-rays. Dentists use intraoral images to detect individual tooth problems such as cavities, monitor jaw and teeth health, and also provide insight on the state of developing teeth.
