How to Prepare for an Oral Surgery

Posted on 3/22/2021 by Pacific Maxillofacial Center
How to Prepare for an Oral SurgeryOral surgery surely sounds quite terrifying, and for many people, their nerves get the better of them at the time of surgery.

While dental anxiety is a common occurrence, you can make the process a lot easier and calmer for yourself with a little bit of preparation.
After all, you want to ensure that the surgery is successful without any complications, followed by speed recovery.

Here are a few things you can do to prepare for oral surgery.

Discuss Your Surgery with the Surgeon In Detail

One of the most important things to do is to discuss everything about the surgery with your oral surgeon in great detail. Ask them any questions that you have in mind and remove all possible concerns and risks before the surgery happens. This will greatly help put your mind at ease and prevent you from getting anxious.

At Pacific Maxillofacial Center, Dr. Haruki and Dr. Oishi will always walk you through the entire process so that you are stress-free and relaxed.

Confirm the Appointment

There are times when people often end up missing their appointments or forget the date and day, for instance. Always make sure to confirm your appointment by calling the dental office at least 24 hours in advance.

Comfortable Clothing

When preparing for oral surgery, make sure to wear simple clothes that are comfortable because many surgeries tend to be quite lengthy in duration and the last thing you want is your clothes causing you discomfort. Also, remove all jewelry and accessories like watches to ensure maximum comfort.

Arrange Transportation

Oral surgeries make use of anesthesia, which means that you aren't likely to be fit to drive after your surgery. Make sure to arrange proper transportation post-surgery so that you have someone to take you home.
