Teeth can get lost due to several reasons. Some of the reasons we can avoid as nobody wants to be without teeth or even a single tooth. It is because of the inconveniences and health risks of living without teeth that will make you decide to replace your teeth once you lose them. Again the decision to restore them is probably propelled by the fact that you can do so permanently.
In teeth restoration, there are three most common ways of doing so. There is the use of dentures, which are removable sets of artificial teeth. They can replace your whole set of teeth or several lost ones. There are also dental bridges that replace a few teeth lost in between healthy teeth. The other way is the use of dental implants. Tooth implants are the most effective way to replace teeth. They are made to work based on a permanently fixed structure.
How Implants Work
On your jaw, a space will be made by a dentist to fix a titanium post into the bone. This post will serve the purpose of the tooth root. The post will eventually fuse to the bone permanently, where it acts like a natural tooth root. A crown will later be fixed on the post to complete the structure of the dental implant.
You Can't Remove Implants at Night
From the way they are fitted into the bone first, a permanent structure is made on the jaw. This will not be removable, and you will have it even during the night. Implants are made to act like natural teeth. This makes them comfortable in every situation, including bedtime.
Advantages of Implants
Tooth implants are easy to care for compared to dentures. With dentures, you will have to remove them when cleaning, unlike implants which are cleaned just like normal teeth. They also last longer compared to dentures. Implants are more stable and work like natural teeth. For more information about implants or dentures, visit our dental office.
